Red Dress for Women's Heart Health

Today started out pretty normal. I turned off the alarm and wanted to go back to sleep, but instead I got up so I'd be ready when Kathleen got here to pick me up. Today was craft club day and since I'm kind of in charge, it wouldn't do for me not to show up for no reason. I really love Wednesday craft club. I joined so many years ago that I've lost track. We meet at the Civic League Bldg. that the Historical Society that I also belong to owns. If it's not chilly, it's not bad meeting there. But if there was a chill the night before, the building gets cold. It doesn't really have insulation and the only heat is two pot belly stoves! Today was a chilly day. One of the ladies brought wood for the stove and started the fire. Then it wasn't bad. I managed to get some work done on the knitted tea cozy that I'm making and enjoyed talking to my friends.

Before I left for the club, the phone rang. It was a lady I know from the Historical Society. She wanted to know if I was going to the Red Dress Tea at the hospital today at 2. Pretending that I knew about the tea, I told her that I hadn't signed up for the tea because I didn't have a ride. Turns out that the woman who was going to go with her couldn't go, so she offered to call the hospital to see if I couldn't come. I told her that would be great. She said she would call back and leave a message if I wasn't here. So when Kathleen picked me up I asked her if she had heard about the tea. She hadn't, and said that there was nothing in our letter from the Red Dress Ladies about it. I just figured that somehow both of us had missed reading it in our letter.
I was wrong! When I got my call back, she said that if they asked I hadn't sent in my application for Prestige 55, which is a group at the hospital you pay to join. I asked her if she was sure it would be ok for me to go, and she said sure. So off I went to shower and find something red to wear!

When we got to the tea, my friend told them that she had called about me coming that morning, so they took my name, rank and serial number and let me pass!! I was so happy that I went because it was very informative.

I joined the Red Dress Ladies a few months ago. We got a tour of the cardiac care facilities at the hospital and a nice lunch. Today we got information about how to spot a heart attack in ourselves. Women don't have the same symptoms as men do. Did you know that? We also learned other things about heart health while sipping our tea and eating finger foods.

If you have never heard of the Red Dress movement, you should check it out. Did you know that more women die from heart disease than the top 3 killers, which includes cancer! Red Dress women are getting educated about their hearts and spreading the word that you need to take care of your heart. I hope that I have done that with this blog today. Here is a link for you to check out: http://www.goredforwomen.org/ PLEASE check it out!

By the way I loved reading your comment to Shelly yesterday, lol, you were very funny.
